The temperature has risen to respectable levels - at last. It was 29 centigrade in the conservatory today. This morning, walking Goofy, it was sunny with a cooling wind. Very pleasant. I think we'll stay here after all.
We have settled into a routine where Goofy gets fed at 8am with dried dog food, laced with chicken stock. Perhaps a few tasty pieces of chicken if he's lucky. Then a walk in the countryside around behind the finca. Then, when we are back home, a little training session. So far he will come (always), sit (usually), stay (rarely). The last one I am working on particularly at meal times where the deal is he has to lie down and stay until his food is in his bowl, and he has been given the release command (OK).

The rest of the day is spent either lying around or racing around at top speed, but nothing in between. Dinner at 7pm after another walk, then a choice of sleeping in the conservatory or his dog house, with a choice of three beds ( more than we have).
There are many tracks for walking, though it is quite rocky and stout boots are needed to avoid twisted ankles.
We are now having a breather from all the building work. The car port is finished and the builders have left us in peace. Here are Berna and his son Jorge (and me looking as though I am one of the builders).
The conservatory was originally an open verandah. The previous owners enclosed it which keeps out strong winds and makes it more usable. The PVC windows fortunately all open to let in cooling breezes. There are planting troughs on the back and sides which are ideal for growing tropical plants.
Given that there are a few flies I though it a good plan to put in some insectivorous plants; a Venus Fly Trap and a Sundew. They are both loving it and have started flowering.
I feed the Venus Fly Trap by swatting flies by hand (years of practice), then holding it by a wing gently lowering it into the Trap's deadly jaw! Great fun. I have now added a Pitcher Plant to our armoury.
My cuttings have picked up, and there will soon be some Oleanders and Hibiscus to plant out.

I planted some mint shoots which I was given in the Garden Centre. This has romped away. And Pawpaw seedlings are pushing up.
We splashed out on some very nice conservatory furniture. This is one room which is nearly completely refurbished. Just another six to go!
